Top Talent: Experienced Recruits Raise the Bar
Technical Director, Technical Consultant and Senior Landscaper appointed
As part of a drive to increase our technical provision, we are delighted to welcome three new members to the TGL team. They will share the remit of improving the planning and management of projects, strengthening the company’s detail focused approach to ensure the best possible outcome for stakeholders.
Scott Lawrence joins as Technical Director
Scott is a Chartered Architectural Technologist with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and 19 years experience in the construction industry. His work to date has encompassed residential, commercial, high-end restaurants, and new build properties.
In the internal fit out sector Scott has worked with Bill’s Restaurants, The Ivy, The Ivy Asia and Brasserie of Light in Selfridges. In the residential space he has most recently overseen a 75-house development in Stone Cross for Clarion with a contract sum of £9.5 million; a grade 2 listed building conversion to six luxury houses and six high end flats and a thirty seven flat development comprising four towers with an integral multi storey car park. Scott sits on the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) Climate Society board.
Scott said: “I’m looking forward to joining a high performing team and working on beautiful projects that are completed to a high standard. I’ll be doing my best to ensure we exceed our clients’ expectations while continuing to find ways to minimise our environmental impact”

Sam Avard becomes TGL Technical Consultant
Sam joins The Garden Landscapers having recently completed a masters degree in engineering focusing on energy and sustainability. He brings with him more than twenty years experience in the industry.
Starting as a landscaper at 18, Sam subsequently completed a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. He returned to landscaping full time in Sussex before moving on to design and build gardens and swimming pools in California.
On his return to Sussex to start a family, Sam founded his own landscape construction that developed a reputation for high quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service. Drawn toward the more technical side of the work and increasingly concerned about the climate crisis, Sam embarked on his eight year masters degree programme with the OU whilst raising three young girls and running a company.
Sam now joins our team offering a blend of technical insight, sustainable thinking, and hands-on experience to support the company’s projects from concept through to completion.

Jon Walker (main picture) is appointed as Senior Landscaper
Jon has been a bricklayer since leaving school at sixteen. Having spent time building houses in Australia, he returned to Sussex to work on high-end residential schemes, teaming up with some award winning architects. Jon adds twenty five years worth of industry experience to the company and will help develop junior members of the site team. He is currently completing an OU degree in linguistics alongside his full-time work.
